Since 1992, I'm holding the Swiss amateur radio call-sign HB9KNS. I'm member of the Union of the Swiss Short wave Amateurs USKA and of the amateur radio society HB9ZZ at the ETHZ.
My main interest is hand-keyed and ear-received telegraphy (called CW among the radio amateurs), using the so-called Continental Code. For simplicity, it is often called Morse code, which is not fully correct, since Samuel Morse invented a system of number groups (transmitted by electrical impulses) that were translated into words and characters. The internationally used (however with diminishing importance) telegraphy code was defined about hundred years ago by a conference of European communication administrations, based on a system invented by the German telegraphy clerk Gehrke and others.
I have several HF and VHF/UHF transceivers: KENWOOD TS830-S, ALINCO DX-70, YAESU VX-1R, KENWOOD TR-2400.
Automatic Morsecode BROadcasting System is a project I opened on SourceForge.Net.
Its aim is to create a system allowing for automated transmission of news, bulletins, whatever, by Morse code for human listeners. It is still in an embryonic stage - but contact me, if you're interested!
